Historic and Modern
Saturday 28 February
We aim to leave the Club House at 8am and travel by car to Coseley (SE of Wolverhampton). The trip is 11 miles, passing the Black Country Museum, Smethwick Pumping Station, the M5 and portage 3 locks before finishing in the centre of Birmingham (Gas Street) where there are numerous places for well earned refreshment along the city centre waterside.
We aim to run this as a club trip open to all, but paddlers will need to be confident in paddling for approx. 5 hours in a canal environment. We will be stopping for breaks along the way !
It is then a short walk for drivers to Birmingham New Street to catch the train back to Coseley and collect the cars. Returning to the Malt House pub (with car park) adjacent to the canal near Gas street to collect boats and paddlers.
If you intend coming can you either add your name to the new poster in the Club House or email me back stating if you are bringing your own boat or would like to use a club canoe / kayak and if you are prepared to drive and carry boats. We will then coordinate cars / drivers / roof racks etc
