Shropshire Paddlesport: Open Canoe & Expeditions

Open Canoe

It is a craft of great beauty and practicality. There is a beauty in the way the canoe fits to the landscape, connecting us to the environment. Enabling us to paddle solo, in tandem, with the  children and even taking the dog.

Canoe designs vary with boats being suitable for racing, white water, family touring and even fishing. At the Club we have a fleet of boats suitable for family paddling, white water and longer expeditions.

From gentle excursions on canal and slow moving rivers to multi week camping in the Canadian wilderness the canoe offer flexibility in transporting you, your lunch and your tent to places inaccessible by road or footpath.

Our Club runs regular day trips on local rivers and canals suitable for those new to our support along with more challenging multi day expeditions in the UK and abroad.

Transforming your flat water paddling skills into the world of white water is a joy and a challenge. Understanding how white water behaves and learning to place your boat in the right place, enabling the flow of the water to take you where you want to go brings effortless excitement. When paddling in tandem, teamwork with your paddling partner to essential in staying dry !

The River Dee at Llangollen is a short drive from our Club, where members are often seen practicing and perfecting their white water skills.
